Frequently Asked Questions

Which size should I use for a favicon?

16×16 for the browser tab, 32×32 for bookmarks and high-DPI tabs. Use our sample-favicon-16.png for testing. For production, include both sizes via <link rel="icon"> tags or use an ICO file containing both.

Can I use PNG for app icons?

Yes. iOS requires PNG for app icons (1024×1024). Android uses PNG in the mipmap directories. macOS uses PNG inside .icns files. Our 256×256 icon tests the standard Windows/macOS app icon size.
