Why is a 1MB PNG lower resolution than a 1MB JPG?

PNG uses lossless compression (no quality loss) while JPG uses lossy compression. A 1MB PNG is ~2560×1440 while a 1MB JPG can be 3840×2160. The trade-off: PNG preserves every pixel perfectly.
